Interest in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles is growing at a quick pace. While many drivers are undecided, whether due to the new technology or growing fuel infrastructure, fuel cell vehicles are here to stay. Of course, with a new set of vehicles comes the opportunity for new world records. That’s where the Hyundai Tucson steps in.
Believe it or not, the Hyundai Tucson fuel cell vehicle now holds a world record for the fastest production hydrogen crossover. That’s because there wasn’t a land speed record for the production hydrogen crossover segment. The Hyundai Tucson is literally the first of its kind.
Odds are the Tucson will hold the land speed record for a couple of years. No other automaker is currently scheduled to deliver a hydrogen-powered crossover for at least two years.
The Tucson fuel cell vehicle set the record at 94.6 mph. Capable of traveling 265 miles on a single tank, the Tucson also refills in as little as five minutes. On top of that, there’s no emissions but water.
